- Gallup's daily tracking poll has Obama leading McCain by 5 points for the 4th day running.
- Rasmussen's daily tracking poll shows Obama up 47% to 40%, but that lead is cut to 5% when leaners are included.
- Also from Rasmussen, Obama now leads McCain by 5 points in Montana. Bush won this state by 20% in 2004.
- Remember Obama's supposed Hispanic problem? Gallup shows that Obama leads McCain by a whopping 40 points in this demographic, by 59% to 29%. In 2004, John Kerry won the Hispanic vote by just 9 points.
- Democrats are preferred over Republicans by a 47% to 35% margin on Rasmussen's generic Congressional ballot. The same poll shows that Obama leads McCain among voters at the lowest end and the highest end of the income scale.
It's only early July, but the trends in these polls are certainly daunting for the Republican nominee and his party. Montana, with its 3 electoral votes, is now in play. And in another sign of Obama's growing support in historically red bastions, McCain has now bought television ad time in Virginia.
Virginia? This change in the electoral map, and the outlook of our nation as a whole, made me think of a certain Bob Dylan song written about another time of great change. Enjoy.

The gaps will grow even bigger once people get to know more more about McSame. He really doesn't stand a chance this election cycle.
